Hamilton IVSS Replaced VINELink
Texas replaced its former VINE service with Texas IVSS-Counties on September 1, 2025. Old references to VINELink may still appear in saved instructions or search results. The current portal is the right starting point for a specific person in county custody or under supervision. It can also carry events supplied by participating Texas agencies.
Hamilton County participation could not be proven through a stable public county list. That matters because Hamilton does not operate a public local jail roster and often houses defendants in another county. An IVSS record may depend on Bosque, Lampasas, or another actual custodian sending data. Call IVSS support at 866-268-8959 to confirm coverage. Then ask Hamilton Sheriff which jail holds the person.

The transition is why current registration steps differ from the old phone-PIN instructions.
Search Hamilton Release Notifications
Search one person at a time and confirm the identity before relying on a status. IVSS accepts a full or partial name, DOC ID, state ID or SID, jail ID, and permanent booking number. A number is best when it is legitimately known. It lowers the risk of confusing two people with the same name.
- Open the current Texas IVSS-Counties portal and choose the person-search option.
- Enter a full or partial name or one of the supported agency identification numbers.
- Compare the returned name, identifier, location, and supervision or custody details.
- Open the matching record and read the exact event wording. Do not treat a transfer as a community release.
- Record the date and time of the search, then verify a claimed release with the source jail or TDCJ.
The official specific-person search screen shows the current identifier choices and warns about the scope of results.
Former detainees may no longer appear. A missing result therefore cannot establish that a Hamilton County release occurred.
For a broader search that joins the physical custodian with Hamilton court authority, use the Hamilton County released-inmate search path. IVSS alone does not preserve the permanent local trail.
Hamilton IVSS Release Fields
IVSS focuses on present custody, supervision, and event notice. It is not built as a certified booking-out register. Read each label as written and preserve the source agency. The following fields help distinguish identity and event type.

A release event can be misunderstood when a person moves between custodians. Ask the source facility for the booking-out date and time, release code, destination, and authority. If the destination is another jail, TDCJ, U.S. Marshals, or ICE, describe the event as a transfer. The Hamilton court file can explain the order, but it may predate actual departure.
Important: IVSS provides notice, not official release proof. Preserve the alert, then obtain the event record from the agency named in it.
Register Hamilton Release Alerts
Registration begins from the matched person or the IVSS account page. The portal may allow an offered notice without a full account, while an account supports later changes. At the research check, the page carried a temporary account-creation outage. Such a banner is transient. Read its date and call support rather than assuming the service has closed.
- Select the matched person and the custody event offered for notification.
- Choose email, SMS or mobile message, phone, or TTY when that channel appears.
- For an account, enter an email and a password of at least ten characters that meets the displayed rules. First and last name are optional for confidential registration.
- Set whether phone-like channels may deliver notices during the overnight period shown by the portal.
- Submit the request and complete any email or account confirmation. Later use the account to pause notices or change contact details and preferences.
The current registration screen documents the available channels and any live service alert.
Available channels can vary with the record and agency feed. Save the confirmation and keep contact information current.
Note: IVSS can deliver events around the clock, but the portal lets a registrant control whether some channels notify during its stated overnight period.
Hamilton VINELink PIN Change
The old four-digit phone PIN is historical. Under the former Texas VINE workflow, a registrant chose a four-digit PIN and entered it to acknowledge an automated call. Calls could repeat when the notice was not acknowledged. Those directions should not be used for a new IVSS registration.
Current IVSS web registration uses an email, password, channel choices, and confirmation steps shown on the portal. No four-digit PIN appeared in the current web form during research. Someone with an old VINE handout should follow the live IVSS prompts or call 866-268-8959. This distinction prevents a failed legacy instruction from being mistaken for a missing Hamilton County record.
Texas made the system change statewide, but local coverage still turns on participation and data submission. The fact that the state offers IVSS does not prove that every Hamilton custodian reports every event at once.
Hamilton Release Custody Boundaries
A Hamilton arrest can lead to several data paths. For a county detainee, call Hamilton Sheriff first and identify the physical holding jail. For a sentenced state prisoner, use the TDCJ offender search and TDCJ telephone or email channels. IVSS may support notice for each path only when the responsible agency sends the record.
Federal custody is outside this Texas service. The Bureau of Prisons locator handles federal sentenced custody and preserves many released results from 1982 onward. U.S. Marshals pretrial custody may use a local contract bed, but the federal docket holds the durable release order. ICE's locator covers current or recent immigration detention. A Hamilton jail transfer to ICE is not a community release.
The Texas sex-offender registry is also separate. It applies only to people with a registration duty under Chapter 62. A displayed community address can support registry status, but it does not supply the exact booking-out event. A missing registry result does not show that someone remains in jail. IVSS and the registry should therefore be treated as narrow status sources, each with its own coverage.

Keep the source facility and event wording from each notice. The same person can leave one custody system and enter another on the same day.
Confirm Hamilton IVSS Releases
When IVSS sends a release notice, preserve its time, person identifier, source facility, and exact event text. Call the named facility. Request the booking-out entry and ask for the actual time, code, destination, and authorizing document. If a code is unclear, request the code legend or the policy used on the event date.
If the person later disappears from IVSS, the portal's former-detainee warning can explain the missing display. It still does not prove the event. Hamilton's jail register is a permanent archival source, and the actual holding jail keeps operational booking-out records under its retention duties. The proper court clerk holds the legal authority behind bond, dismissal, sentence, or transfer.
A written request should seek records the agency already keeps. For the holding jail, name the booking, date range, booking-out sheet, release authorization, code, and destination. For Hamilton, request the jail-register entry and the matching case documents. This creates a durable trail if the IVSS result later drops from view. It also separates the time a notice arrived from the time the custody event occurred, which may not be the same.
Phone confirmation should also be documented. Note the office, call time, and exact status words, then ask how to request the maintained record. If staff says “released,” ask whether that means release to the community or release to another agency. If staff identifies a destination, continue with that custodian. Hamilton's distributed jail arrangement makes this follow-up especially important because the jurisdiction that filed the case may not be the jail that completed the event.
A TDCJ result must also be read with care. Its online data is updated on working days and is at least 24 hours old. A projected release date is not an actual release. After a favorable parole vote, the Parole Division release-status line can confirm physical processing. These checks turn a useful alert into a supported account of what happened.
Note: Keep an IVSS registration active if continued notice is wanted, because the service may report a later return to custody.
